TIFTON — Tift County’s Lady Devils got back on the winning track Tuesday, needing but three innings to defeat visiting Valdosta, 16-1.
The dominant win is helping to get the bad taste out of Tift’s mouth from a tough road trip last week to Richmond Hill. C.B. McCrary struck out three with a single run while also collecting two hits and an RBI. Hers was far from the only big game.

Lily Robinson homered and, in three at-bats, was three-quarters of the way to a cycle. The run-rule meant she did not get a fourth and a chance to complete it. She had an RBI on every hit and scored three runs. Each starter not only reached base, but scored as well.
Riley Williams nearly homered twice. Her two hits included a triple. Morgan Brey had two hits and two RBIs in two at-bats. Stella Bryant joined them in the two-hit club. Ella Bruce, Marlee Veazey, Bryant, Williams and Brey came home twice.
Valdosta struck for a pair of two-out hits in the first before McCrary ended the danger with a strikeout. In the bottom half, the Lady Devils posted seven tallies.
Head coach Jen Walls said she hoped the performance helps build McCrary’s confidence.
Williams led off with a walk, getting a quick run on an infield hit by Bryant that featured an overthrow. Veazey made it 2-0 on an RBI grounder. The bases were clear, but the party was just starting. Robinson belted a Lady Wildcats pitch deep over the right field fence to go up 3-0.
Kinsley Tawzer smoked a single to left, then stole second, allowing her to come in when Bruce forced another miscue. With two down, Brey singled past shortstop and Williams, up again, crushed a ball to the left-center gap for the seventh run.

Veazey started the second at third following a miscue, scoring when Robinson doubled to the deep, deep centerfield. Hannah Grace Murphy pushed the lead to 9-0 on an RBI groundout.
Valdosta scored its lone run in the top of the third.
Madylyn Hart started with a single, then got into scoring position on a steal. Jesslyn Johnson grounded out, but in an attempt to get Hart at third, the throw got away and Hart scored.
Walls praised the efforts of the Lady Wildcats. Johnson struck out three and they had at least one baserunner every frame. “They give it 100% in each inning,” she said.
Tift soon got the run back. McCrary began the third with a base hit and was joined on by Brey.
Williams smacked a two-run single to boost the advantage to 11-1. Bryant beat out a punt to the pitcher for two on. Veazey picked up another RBI and both plated on a Robinson hit.
Murphy drove in Tift’s 15th run on a grounder. Two were down when Bruce wound up at second on a misplay. She moved up a base on a wild pitch, giving McCrary an opportunity to end it on a single.
The Lady Devils are set to finish the Region 1-6A series at Valdosta Thursday with a doubleheader. The Lady Wildcats will attempt to win their first region contest of the year after an 0-7 start.
