TIFTON — Athletic schedules, for the most part, are returning to normal in Tift County.

Athletic director Chris Martin said Monday morning there is no damage to any of TCHS’ fields the high school has power again. Tift is scheduled to return to school Wednesday after a week out because of Hurricane Helene.

The schedule picks back up Tuesday, with the Lady Devils playing Colquitt County in softball in Moultrie. The two teams are slated to play a doubleheader in Tifton Thursday. The series may be pivotal one for determining the Region 1-6A title.

In football, the Blue Devils will play at Richmond Hill this Friday. That game was scheduled for last Friday (then Saturday), but had to be postponed both times. Since all Region 1-6A’s games were postponed, the conference instead decided to push things back a week and remove the shared bye week of Oct. 18, Martin said. So, instead of it being Lowndes this Friday, Tift will instead hit the road.

One thing will stay the same, Martin said: the special event dates.

Tift will have football Senior Night against Lowndes Oct. 11. On Oct. 18 will be Youth Night and Pink Out against Colquitt County.

The only event that might be postponed, he said, was a middle school softball tournament. While nearly all schools are fine to play, Coffee Middle is out of school this week because of extensive hurricane damage and power outages.
