TIFTON — The Tift Theatre is set to kick off the spooky season with a double feature of frights this weekend.
Residents of Tifton are invited to join the theatre Oct. 5 for their Halloween Horror Nights, a showing of two classic horror-themed films to enjoy at the start of the scariest month of the year.
Intended to be enjoyable for both kids and older audiences, the event will be split between two showtimes, with the 1995 kids’ comedy “Casper” being shown at 2 p.m. and the classic 1980 slasher “Friday the 13th” showing at 7 p.m.
While originally planned to be a ticketed event, Main Street Manager and event organizer Hillery Culpepper announced that Halloween Horror Nights would be a free showing as a means of restoring the seasonal spirit following the impact of Hurricane Helene.
Concessions will still be made available for purchase.
This double feature will serve as a opener for many of the theatre’s other horror-themed events throughout the month, including the second showing of TiftCon Oct. 12, which will be horror themed to match the season, and the return of the Haunted Theatre, receiving a spine-chilling branding as the Theatre of Strings, to be held Oct. 24-26, 30, and 31.
