TIFTON — The City of Tifton has decided to close Fulwood Park until the tentative date of Oct. 14.

In response to the extensive damage the park suffered during Hurricane Helene, city officials announced Oct. 4 that they would be closing the park for the foreseeable future, including the playgrounds, bathrooms, and shelters.

Several trees had been toppled, broken, or uprooted as a result of the storm, which will require time and manpower to properly clean up.

City officials plan to reevaluate the state of the park next Monday, at which point they will decide if it can be reopened or will need more time to be restored.
