Lady Panthers trio named All-State

CHULA — Tiftarea Academy has announced its district and state softball award winners.
The Lady Panthers finished 11-11 in 2024, won the region for the fifth consecutive year and made it to the final four of the Class 3A state tournament. All are expected to return next season as the squad finished with no seniors.
Three players earned All-State: Coley Beth Croft, Summer Gray and Raelyn Owens.
Owens led Tiftarea with a .444 average, according to stats input to GameChanger. She had 32 hits while driving in 15 and scoring 11. In the circle, Owens struck out 58 in 44 1/3 innings.
Croft, who had a team-high 17 RBIs, finished at a .317 mark at the plate. Her five doubles led the Lady Panthers.
Gray logged the most wins, innings and strikeouts as a pitcher for the team. She threw 64 1/3 frames, struck out 71 and won seven games. No slouch at the plate, Gray hit .362 and scored 18 times.
First team All-Region went to Carmen Corkern, Calla Joyner, Cloe Sercer, Croft, Gray and Owens.
Corkern played a solid infield. Her bat came on late in the season and she had three hits in their last two games of state. Corkern scored 13 runs.
Joyner also had a good glove for the Lady Panthers while hitting the most home runs for Tiftarea at two. Sercer had a homer, hit .333 and scored 12 runs.
Honorable mention All-Region went to McKenna Graham and Olivia Monfort.
Chance Benson was named District 3-3A Coach of the Year.
