TIFTON — Christmas lights will shine and holiday spirit will soar at Fulwood Park the evening of Nov. 27.

Residents of Tifton are invited to join in on the merry and bright festivities next Wednesday for the Fulwood Festival of Lights, a celebration kicking off the holiday season with the lighting of the park’s new Christmas decorations.

Thanks to a sizable investment put into Fulwood Park, the Downtown Development Authority has been able to purchase over 65 new holiday decorations and more than 200 string lights to decorate the public space, as reported by Main Street manager Hillery Culpepper, which they plan to illuminate next Wednesday evening as an opening celebration for the season of giving.

“It’s going to be a great night,” Culpepper said when announcing the event. “I just really wanted to offer our community something fun and exciting, to experience the true beauty that our community is getting this year.”

Alongside the lighting ceremony, which will take place at 8 p.m. that evening, the event will sport activities and entertainment for guests of all ages, including live Christmas music, a station for writing letters to Santa, and hot chocolate.

Patrons will even be able to take a picture on Santa’s sleigh all the way from the North Pole, accompanied by two of his best reindeer.

The Fulwood Festival of Lights will begin at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public, and will take place in the Inner Circle Area, near 12th Street. For more information, contact the Downtown Development Authority at (229) 391-3966.
