TIFTON — A Tift County Schools bus driver was charged with DUI after a field trip, the school system said Wednesday.

Tuesday, the driver had taken students on a field trip from Annie Belle Clark Elementary School to Albany, a statement from the school system said. The driver was cited for DUi and failure to maintain lane after the return trip.

Parents were notified and the driver was placed on administrative leave as an investigation took place, the statement said.

The Georgia State Patrol is carrying out the investigation.
