TIFTON — Authorities are investigating a fight at a Tift County school lunchroom Wednesday that resulted in pepper spray being used.

The fight at Tift County High School involved so many students that a school security officer was forced to use pepper spray so that law enforcement could gain control, a statement from the high school said.

School nurses aided several students affected by the pepper spray, the statement said.

The school system said an investigation is under way and promised disciplinary actions against any students who were involved.
