AUGUSTA — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Fillies won their third straight game Tuesday night, mauling Paine College on the road, 84-65. Paine had a big win in the men’s game to split for the night.
The Fillies finally got off to a fast start in a contest, outscoring Paine 21-14 in the opening quarter. They expanded that lead to 46-30 at halftime.
Reese Riddle had a huge night for ABAC, netting 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting. Shakiria Chaney continued her outstanding year with 20 points, on 8-of-15 from the field. Chaney barely missed a double-double as she pulled down nine rebounds.
Kasey Smikes added 13 points. The Fillies made 35 shots, with assists on 21 of those.
The first time around, the Stallions took Paine to overtime. That was not the case in Augusta Tuesday.
Paine’s Lions roared to a 40-24 halftime lead as ABAC dropped a 91-56 game.
T.J. Smith was the only player in double-digits for ABAC with 15 points, adding nine rebounds. Bryce Wimberly scored nine.
It was not the Stallions’ best night from the field as they made 22-of-63 shots. Six Paine players had at least 10 points, Quinnton Jackson leading the way with 14.
ABAC is now 3-4 on the season.
The Stallions and Fillies will be home Saturday to play the College of Coastal Georgia, which tips at 2 p.m. They have one more game before the holidays, traveling to Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Brewton-Parker Dec. 17.
They return Jan. 4, 2025 with a home game against Thomas University.
