TIFTON — Tift County’s wrestling schedule heats up quickly this week. The Lady Devils have area duals at Houston County Friday and, one day later, the Blue Devils travel to Camden County Saturday morning for the Region 1-6A duals.

The Blue Devils will be the No. 4 seed Saturday. They have the bad luck to be in the same region as Camden County, which has won the last 10 consecutive state duals titles plus the last 10 state traditional titles.

Should Tift County advance, the state duals meet begins Jan. 17-18. Two weeks after dual are the traditional region tournaments.

Most recently the Blue Devils placed fifth at the Packer Classic. tift won its first round over Cairo, 54-24, but a one-point loss to Lee County (34-33) ended up stinging them.

Tift came back with a 44-31 win over Veterans, but dropped a 54-21 dual to Cook. In the fifth place match against Lowndes, the Devils edged the Vikings, 38-36.

Colquitt County won the dual and Cook was second. No other Region 1-6A opponents competed.
