KATHLEEN — Tift County finished the non-region portion of its basketball schedule Tuesday with a pair of losses at Veterans High.

The Lady Devils fell, 67-62, with the Blue Devils dropping a 66-57 contest. Both Tift teams end the regular season this weekend with home region games — Friday against Camden County and Saturday versus Valdosta.

Three nights after upsetting Lowndes, the Lady Devils continued to be red hot shooting. At halftime, they led 36-32, which included a 23-point second quarter. In contrast, they scored a total of 25 last Friday at Richmond Hill.

Jalaya Miller scored 26 for Tift. Mackenzie Holliday netted 11 and Jaziyah Johnson added 11 points. Mariyah Batts nearly joined them in double-digits with 9.

The Blue Devils were up after three quarters, 45-43, but Veterans got the lead, then pulled away in the fourth.

J.J. Lamar scored 23 points. Marshall Howard had his second big game in a row, with 10 points. Ben Hill had 8 points.
