ATLANTA — Tift County’s Lady Devils finished 15th in Class 6A at the state swimming and diving finals at Georgia Tech. Tift accumulated 84 points. Brookwood won at 427.

Best finish went to Mary Frances Dove, Kendall Sasser, Brianna Domagala and Jovia Burke in the 200 freestyle relay. The group was eighth in 1:43.32. This was better than their prelim swim, where they finished ninth.

Anna Lupo was 10th overall in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 58.94 seconds. The same was achieved by Anna Lupo, Dove, Brynna Burke and Jovia Burke in the 400 freestyle relay. Their time was 3:47.02.

The Lady Devils had a 15th place with Anna Lupo, Domagala, Brynna Burke and Sasser, the 200 medley relay team. Their finals time was 1:55.66.

Jovia Burke was 17th in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.39 seconds. Brynna Burke was 19th overall in the 500 freestyle in 5:34.

The 200 medley relay team of Karson Ponder, Brayden Rowland, Chase Walker and Rocky Faw just missed the finals. They were 24th at 1:46.26 in the prelims, two spots behind the last of the alternates. The same bad applied to Faw, Ponder, Walker and Aiden Thrasher in the 200 freestyle relay, as they were also 24th at 1:36.

Faw, Ponder, Rowland and Thrasher were 25th in the 400 freestyle relay.

Also in the prelims, Anna Lupo swam the 200 freestyle. Dove and Sasser swam in the 50 freestyle; Abby Lupo, Brynna Burke and Domagala in the 100 butterfly; Dove, Sasser and Jovia Burke in the 100 freestyle; Abby Lupo competed in the 100 backstroke; Domagala in the 100 breaststroke.
