TIFTON — The county board of commissioners has signed off on the installation of a bridge along Red Oak Road.
County commissioners moved to enlist Southern Concrete to construct and install a small bridge along the road, meant to remedy flooding issues that section of Red Oak Road was facing, during their Feb. 10 meeting.
Public works director Jason Jordan reported that the road was primarily supported by culverts in dealing with runoff from rainstorms, which were unable to handle severely high quantities of rain and led to the road flooding over.
Jordan had a hydraulics study conducted to determine the best course of action and identified that the installation of a bridge would help reduce or completely remedy the flooding issue.
The project is expected to cost $594,760, and will be paid through LMIG and SPLOST VI funds.
