Varsity swim team praised for twelfth year of holding champion title

Coaches and swimmers behind the girls varsity swim team clustered together at the front of the board of education meeting room, celebrating their recent regional championship as a team.
TIFTON — Members of the Tift County Board of Education offered their congratulations to the girls of the varsity swim team for earning the title of regional champions for the 12th year in a row. The commendation was held during the board’s Feb. 13 meeting.
Dana Spurlin, chief information officer for Tift County Schools, invited varsity swim coaches Ivey Vickers and Kristin McElroy up to the front of the meeting hall to congratulate their team.
As the two coaches presented each swimmer with an award for their accomplishment, they noted many of the girls were also members of the state swim team.
Spurlin was confident that they would be recognizing the varsity team again in the future, closing out the presentation with an assurance that they would be presenting them with awards come next year.
