TIFTON — With the local Special Olympics having just wrapped up and plans already in motion for next year, the leaders of Tift County Schools are looking to thank the team that makes the event possible.
During their April 10 meeting, the county Board of Education extended its sincerest gratitude to the local chapter of Special Olympics Georgia for assisting the school system in organizing the Tift County Special Olympics, particularly for the special needs students of the school system, each year.
Chief information officer for Tift County Schools Dana Spurlin called each member of the chapter present to the front of the meeting hall to receive a certificate honoring their tireless work, noting that the team began planning out the next run of the Special Olympics the day after the current event had finished.
Asserting that the event would not be possible without their contributions, passion, and support, she thanked the team on behalf of the board for going above and beyond for the students of Tift County.
