Graham wins two golds at region track meet

VALDOSTA — Nairobi Graham had a super successful Region 1-6A tournament Thursday for the Tift County Lady Devils, finishing up a two-day tournament that saw multiple Tift athletes qualify for sectionals.
Graham won the 200 and 400 meters and finished second in the 300 hurdles.
Graham earned the gold in the 200 in 24.82 seconds, the 400 in 56.21.
The 400 meter victory for Graham is especially noteworthy as it came over Lowndes’ track star, Kendall Johnson. Johnson was a nose behind Graham in 56.35 seconds in the event.
Graham was edged by Mmekom Inyang of Richmond Hill in the hurdles race, 44.06 to 44.59.
Jamari Johnson did not sail to the heights he had earlier this year, but his 6-6 in high jump was enough to win the region championship. Two competitors made 6-4.
In addition, Tift won with the girls 4×800 team in 10:21.
Russ Benton was third in the 800 in 2:01.47 as was Illianna Cleveland for the Lady Devils at 2:25.
Marshall Howard placed fourth in the 200 meters finals after a sixth-place finish in the prelims. Zacarius Paulk goes to the next round in shot put after throwing 45-4.
Jordan Gaskins was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 15.46 seconds, edging Jeremiah Rich and Cnardarian Walker for his spot. Gaskins had a third place in the 300 hurdles in 41.21.
Anthony Pace and Jaxson Hughes both qualified for sectionals in pole vault. Both cleared 11-6.
Diamond Wallace went 16-10 to place third in long jump.
Tift had a second place in the boys 4×100 relay, only an eyelash away from winning. Richmond Hill won in 41.7 seconds to the Devils’ 41.78. The 4×400 team was third in 3:28.15, and the 4×800 crew finished fourth in 8:40.
