TIFTON — People in search of work got another chance to connect with several businesses in the community thanks to local employment agency Quality Employment.

The agency worked to introduce Tifton and Tift County job seekers to employers in the community and beyond at its second annual career fair the evening of April 20.

Reporting success during the event last year, Quality Employment representatives said they were eager to bring the event back, gathering together more than 40 businesses for interested applicants.

The job fair “is great for the community,” said Lisa Griffin from Heatcraft. “On top of bringing in future employees, we also meet and greet with other vendors, build connections with them, too.”

Including local businesses such as PB2 Foods, Southwell and Natural All Beauty Salon as well as larger and more widespread businesses such as the Coca-Cola Company and Country Financial.

Even positions with the county, state and nation were up for consideration through representatives of the county sheriff’s office, Georgia Department of Transportation and U.S. Army and Marines. Held once again in the Tift County recreation department gym, potential employees were encouraged to browse and get to know the selection of businesses present, as well as potentially apply for jobs on the spot.

Potential employers offered applicants the chance to not only fill out applications but also take part in interviews.

“I feel like this is the place for me,” said Taenia Clark, an applicant who was seeking a position in caregiving. “I’ve never been to one of these places but it’s been a great experience.” By the end of the event, Quality Employment representatives reported about 100 job seekers had participated in the fair.
