HERE TO HELP: Setting up in a study room in the Tifton-Tift County Public Library, Eboni Morris-Key was available throughout the day to provide local residents aid with their federal bureaucracy troubles on behalf of the office of Senator Ossoff.

TIFTON — Tifton residents struggling with red tape were given a helping hand when the office of Senator Jon Ossoff came to town last Thursday.

Representatives of the Georgia senator’s office set up shop in the Tifton-Tift County Public Library Oct. 19 to work with local residents and help them receive the federal benefits they’ve had difficulty acquiring.

This visit was part of a larger statewide initiative, “Constituent Services in Your Community,” launched by Ossoff earlier in the month, in which his constituent services team travels across the state to meet with residents and hear out their problems within their communities.

“From the moment Senator Ossoff was elected, he and his office have been dedicated to helping Georgia families cut through red tape to access federal benefits,” said Daniela Campos Lopez, press secretary for Ossoff. “This includes providing assistance with matters related to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, service member and veteran benefits, tax and IRS issues, as well as passports and visas. Senator Ossoff launched the new ‘Constituent Services in Your Community’ initiative aimed at meeting Georgians where they are to help families access the federal benefits to which they are entitled.”

Ossoff’s team eagerly helped Tifton residents with their bureaucracy troubles throughout the day, the problems ranging from troubles with accessing veteran’s benefits and lost medical records to concerns over increasing homeowner’s insurance, and fervently promised they would investigate however they could.

The constituents who voiced their complaints to the office representatives left confident that their problems would be resolved, assured that Ossoff’s caseworkers would remain in regular contact with them throughout the process.

“I feel strongly, talking to the representative, that they will get on [my case], and whatever can help me resolve my problem, I think they’ll do just that,” said Albert Banks, a resident seeking clarification on mortgage issues. “I feel really good about this visit.”

Ossoff’s office reported that the constituent services initiative is planned to be a regular event, bringing the office of the senator to communities across the state every month, but as of now, no future events have been announced.
