TIFTON — It’s tee time, Tift County. The annual Lamar Jackson Golf Tournament will be at Spring Hill County Club this Monday, Oct. 23.
“To have people in the community believe in what we’re doing and come support it, that’s always been my awesome thing to see,” said Tiftarea YMCA CEO Jason Bishoff, “They support what the Y is doing.” Bishoff said this is the local YMCA’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

The tournament does not just give back to the YMCA, but it may give back to those on the course. Bishoff said one of the holes has the possibility for $10,000 towards a new car.
“It’s a fun time,” said Bishoff, “and they’re all playing for a good cause.”
There are still slots for teams to join up to play, he said. The tournament is 18 holes, in the format of a four-man scramble. Play begins in the afternoon, but if all those slots fill up, morning times will be available as well.
Several organizations are involved, he said, with many new organizations joining up this year. Bishoff tipped his cap to Clint Hurst for his work in helping organize the tournament. The tournament has grown every year.
For those who want to help the Tiftarea YMCA in its causes, Bishoff said there are opportunities to do that year-round. The annual campaign kicks off in November, he said. During the year, the Y works with youth at the Anthony Bateman Center, there is the learn to swim program (which Bishoff said is in partnership with the Tift County Recreation Department) and Y Christmas, among many, many others.
“Annual campaign donations go to help those things,” Bishoff said.
