Competition cheer at Blue Devil Cheer Classic

TIFTON — The Blue Devil Cheer Classic brought competition cheerleaders to Tift County High School from all across southern Georgia.
The morning was devoted to 13 middle school teams, with eight high school squads taking over after lunch.
Besides Tift, the high school teams hailed from Brunswick, Colquitt County, Cook, Crisp County, Irwin County, Valdosta and Worth County. Five trophies were awarded. Valdosta won 7A, Crisp won 3A, Worth won 2A, Irwin was tops in 1A and Brunswick won the coed division.
Middle school teams came from as far away as Calvary Day (in Savannah), Camden County and Lee County to compete.
Before high school trophies were awarded, Tift honored its competition cheer seniors, Jerica Alvarez, Caitlyn Burgess, Abbi Hendrix, Rebecca James, Isabella Soto, Kenzie Spradley, Gracie Walker and Ansley Wood.
