TIFTON — A Fitzgerald man was recently arrested in connection to a burglary reported on Dec. 7, 2015.

According to Lt. Col. Bobby Brannen, with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, the report states the burglary was reported to have occurred at a residence on Union Road South.

In an unrelated case, on May 19, Officer Tony Amaya reported that he responded to Len Lastinger Primary School on Lake Drive in reference to a break-in that happened overnight.

The principal reported that around 7:30 a.m., as he arrived at the school, he noticed that several windows behind the school were open. He entered the school and then noticed that several lights were left on as well.

He said he found this suspicious, so he checked the school’s surveillance system and discovered that at 1:15 a.m., a black male wearing a gray T-shirt and what appeared to be pajamas made entry to the school and was going from room to room. The surveillance footage also showed the subject walking around the school pulling on the doors.

The report states it is believed the subject made entry through one of the windows in one of the classrooms. Another classroom had several windows that were open also.

The surveillance footage showed the subject carrying several items in his arms that he took from the classrooms. Most of the items taken were gift bags that the teachers had for their students.

In a similar report, on May 21, Officer Coleman Nelson reported he was sent to Len Lastinger in reference to another burglary. The principal informed him that he arrived to the school that evening and noticed all of the lights were on throughout the school, noting he turned them off the night before.

He said he checked the cameras and at approximately 1:30 a.m., a black male entered the school through a window. He noted this same subject entered the school days earlier and stole some towels and candy. He didn’t report any items missing at that time.
