Head coach Tommy Blackshear said it was the typical tough game in the Trojans’ territory.

“Douglas always gives us a fit by the way they play,” he said. Coffee’s style is physical, compared with the more finesse look that the Blue Devils have this season.
Blackshear said his squad was up 21-11 with about 3.5 minutes to go in the 1st half. Coffee closed on a 12-2 run for a 23-23 tie at the break.
“We had a decent 3rd,” he said, but the Trojans pulled to four points in the 4th before Tift put them away. “Hard-fought game,” said Blackshear.
It was another double-digit game for Davis Byrnes, with Tift’s tallest man scoring 10 points on the night. Ty’Quan Mills scored 7 points, with Tyler Parker at 6. Kobe Farrie, Will Clark, Christian Jones and McKyler Horne each added 4 points.
Only the varsity boys played Tuesday. Both boys and girls for Tift play Jan. 6 at Veterans to open Region 1-6A.
