LOS ANGELES — Ontaria Wilson is getting his shot at the National Football League.
Multiple sources are reporting that “Pokey” Wilson, a standout at Turner County High and Florida State, has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Wilson caught 30 passes during the 2022 season for 495 yards and four touchdowns. He had a season-high 102 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-23 win against LSU in September, which saw him named ACC Receiver of the Week.
For his career, Wilson scored 12 touchdowns and also ran for one score, which came during the 2019 season. He was also used as a kick and punt returner for the Seminoles.
At Turner, Wilson was named 1st team All-State by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2016 and 2nd team by the Associated Press for the same season.
Should he play in the NFL, Wilson would become just the second Turner County player to take an NFL snap. The other was Ben Thomas, who played in 54 games for five teams from 1985-91.
