TIFTON — Bobby Wallace Walker, 82, of Tifton, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Elder John S. Mikell, Elder William M. Mullis and Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends starting at 1:30 p.m. before the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Marty Mullis, Alan Moore, Mark Moore, Jonathan Walker, Roger Walker Jr., Lamar Walker and David Clements.
Mr. Walker was born April 15, 1933 in the Tift County Jail to the late Sheriff James M. Walker, who at that time served as sheriff of Tift County, and the late Edna Cleo Hitchcock Walker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters-in-law, James M. Walker Jr., Julian B. and Roselyn Walker, Eston L. and Barbara (Bobbie) Walker, W. Ray Walker and Roger V. Walker Sr.
Mr. Walker graduated from Tift County High School and received a degree in computer science from Moultrie Technical College. As a young man, he and his brothers worked for Walker Service Station. He also worked for Williams Brothers Wholesale Grocery with his brother, James, at Gulf Distribution Plant and currently worked with his nephew, Roger Walker, at Roger Walker Construction Company Inc. and his niece at Donna J. Walker CPA LLC. Mr. Walker was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church and served as the church treasurer. He loved fishing, especially with his brothers and sister.
Mr. Walker is survived by the love of his life, who he married Oct. 28, 1995, Betty Royal Walker of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Lindsay McGill of Leesburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mike Dodd of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Maren McGill, Knox McGill, Brentyn Dodd, Ella Dodd, Parker Medley and Carson Ross; a great-granddaughter, Emery Medley; a sister, Elsie Moore of Tifton; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Walker and Louise Walker, both of Tifton; and several nieces and nephews.
