TIFTON — According to Tift County Tax Commissioner Chad Alexander, property tax bills are in the mail.
The bills were mailed on Aug. 20, he said, and are due Nov. 15. Taxpayers will notice a difference in them, he added, noting they are different than the notice received earlier from the Tax Assessor’s Office. This is due to the millage rate increase.
Full or partial payment can be made using credit or debit cards, or online at www.tiftcounty.org. If you pay using one of these methods, there will be a 2.5 percent convenience fee, however.
There is also a drop box available at the Administration Building on Tift Avenue, where the Tax Commissioner’s Office is located.
Alexander said that if you make a partial payment, you should bear in mind that the full amount must be paid by Nov. 15. A 10 percent penalty will be assessed 90 days after that date.
Alexander encourages property owners to contact his office at 386-7820 if they do not receive their bills by the end of this week. To check your bill, you can go online at tiftcounty.org and click on “Pay Property Taxes Online.”
