TIFTON — Tift County’s roofing repair project for the juvenile probation building will be changing hands.

As part of the consent agenda of the Nov. 14 meeting, Tift County Commission unanimously elected to award the task of repairing the roof of the juvenile probation building, which has begun suffering from leaks and holes, to Campbell Construction.

At the previous meeting, Nov. 8, Jason Jordan, public works director, said a different construction company had previously been awarded the bid. The commission was forced to rescind the decision after the other company reported it does not possess the equipment to perform the job.

Jordan said there were no other bids for the project but recommended Campbell be given the job.

The repairs will cost $29,408, which will be paid for from the county’s general fund.
