TIFTON — Bo Carpenter has excelled on golf courses throughout America. Soon, the Tift County High senior will head to another campus: the University of South Carolina.

Carpenter inked with the Gamecocks recently in a ceremony at the high school.

He has been a top golfer at GHSA meets, but also in amateur meets.

He is currently ranked third in Georgia in the Class of 2023 Junior Golf Scoreboard, as well as 65th nationally in his class. During the summer, Carpenter’s average round was a 70.

At the Beth Daniel Junior Azalea in Charleston, S.C., he had the tournament’s low round with a 65 second round and finished 3rd overall. At an American Junior Golf Association event in Atlanta, he placed in the top five with a final round score of 66. In addition, Carpenter shot a 66 at the Southern Junior, where he placed in the top 20. More than 150 golfers competed in that event.

In 2021, he was invited to play at the U.S. Junior Amateur.

As a Blue Devil, Carpenter earned All-State honorable mention in 2022 from the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association. He tied for 14th at the 7A state tournament, with seven birdies. Carpenter led the squad at the 2020 state tournament.
