Lady Devils earn 1st win of year over Camden

VALDOSTA – It was the Jimmya Cushion Show at Lowndes High Monday and the Tift County Lady Devils were very happy to see it.

The Lady Devils picked up their first win of the 2022-23 season over Camden County Nov. 21, 48-40, and Cushion was the reason why. She scored 26 points, 15 in the 1st half alone and hit five 3-pointers.

Tift had a 26-18 lead at the half, but had to fend off the Lady Wildcats’ comeback over the last 16 minutes. Tift was ahead 34-27 going into the 4th.

Jalaya Miller added 9 points to the Lady Devils’ cause and made three of four free throws in the 4th quarter. O’ashia Cushion scored 5 points, with a final period 3-pointer of her own.

Tift will face Peachtree Ridge Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lowndes.
