Linda Darnell Browning Horton, 62, of Ty Ty, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at her residence. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Ecru Baptist Church in Ecru, Miss. with the Rev. George Steward, the Rev. Stephen McCombs and Jimmy Flake officiating. Interment will follow at Ecru Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church.

Mrs. Horton was born July 28, 1951 in New Albany, Miss., to the late James “Bill” Browning and Francis Darnell Sneed Browning. She lived the past 14 years in Ty Ty from Ecru, Miss. Mrs. Horton graduated from Ecru High School in Ecru, Miss., Northeast Junior College in Booneville, Miss. and received her master’s degree from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. She was a teacher and a home economist. Mrs. Horton was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton and a musician, playing the piano for several churches that she was associated with. Always willing to help those in need, Mrs. Horton enjoyed baking, decorating cakes, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Bryan Scott Horton of Ty Ty and one sister and brother-in-law, Tonia and the Rev. Steve McCombs of Cartersville; mother-in-law, Gene Scott Horton of Holcomb, Mass.; brother-in-law, Harte Horton of Holcomb, Mass.; one niece and two nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to your local church’s mission fund.
