Tift casts 2,500-plus early votes

TIFTON – More than 2,500 Tift County voters cast ballots during the first several days of early voting.

As of early this week, according to the Secretary of State’s website, 2,536 people cast ballots in person during the first week of early voting in Tift County.

On the first day of early voting, Monday, Oct. 17, 271 people voted in Tift County; 386 voted on Tuesday, Oct. 18; 324 voted Wednesday, Oct. 19; 290 voted Thursday, Oct. 20; 964 voted Friday, Oct. 21; 299 voted Saturday, Oct. 22, according to the SOS website.

Statewide, about 893,000 voters had cast ballots in person during the first week and early this week in Georgia, according to the Secretary of State website.

Candidates are running for various county posts in Tift County. Statewide, voters are choosing a governor, a senator and many other Georgia leaders.

Early voting runs 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday to Friday, through Nov. 4, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, at the Tift County Board of Elections office, 222 Chestnut Ave., Building B. For more information or questions, contact Shekia Holley at (229) 386-7915 or shekia.holley@tiftcounty.org.
