TIFTON — A city needs people to thrive and with a city government being no different, City of Tifton officials ensured some of their hardworking employees received the recognition.
Jessica White and Dana Chancey, respectively the city clerk and finance director, received recognition for their contributions during the May 2 Tifton City Council meeting May 2.
White was recognized as part of a proclamation declaring the week of May 1 Municipal Clerks Week, a celebration of the efforts municipal clerks throughout Georgia put into helping their local governments grow and prosper.
While putting the proclamation into effect, Mayor Julie Smith took a moment to praise White for her hard work as city clerk, thanking her for her 10 years of dedication and service.
White expressed gratitude for the recognition, honored that her efforts were recognized and appreciated.
Chancey was given a proper send-off in celebration of her retirement, affectionately dubbed her second retirement by city staff due to her previous work as a finance director for the City of Waycross.
City Council and city staff praised Chancey for her three years with Tifton and cumulative 35 years as a city employee, thanking her for all of her efforts and presenting her with an award honoring her experience with and service to the city.
Chancey thanked city officials for the opportunity to work alongside them, announcing her intent to stay in Tifton even after her retirement, the city and its people having forever found a place in her heart.
