TIFTON — The Tift County Board of Education approved two board policies regarding transportation and exchange student application during their Sept. 12 meeting.

After placing them out for 30 days of public review and receiving no negative feedback, board members approved policies EDDB and JQK, which will provide students with transportation if they are within the walk-in zone of their school and establish a case-by-case examination system for exchange student applications into the school system, respectively.

Under the transportation policy, K-8 students can be offered transportation within one mile of their school, while the proximity for 9-12 is 1.5 miles. Regardless, transportation will be provided as space allows.

The exchange student policy will authorize the school superintendent to establish administrative regulations for managing exchange student applications and related processes.
