TIFTON — Tift County’s Region 1-6A opener will have to wait.

Friday, Tift County Athletics announced the game will be played Oct. 18. Earlier in the week, the Blue Devils had been hopeful to play a Saturday afternoon contest. Hurricane Helene left several thousand without power in Tift County and made a path of destruction on the eastern end of the state.

In addition, Tift County’s cross country meet, which had been slated for Saturday morning, was canceled.
