TIFTON — Two Tifton men have been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in the death of 38-year-old Shirley Ann King of Tifton, who was fatally shot early Saturday, and in the wounding of 30-year-old Furnada Foster.

Tift County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Travis Brown, 28, on Tuesday night; 17-year-old Dominique Kendrick was served with felony warrants Tuesday at a detention center — he had been arrested Monday on a misdemeanor charge.

Sheriff Gary Vowell said Wednesday that the investigation is still ongoing, and he’s not ruling out additional arrests.

“I want to thank the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Sylvester and my officers for their dedication and hard work on this case,” Vowell said. “Without their dedication, an arrest couldn’t have been made in such a quick manner.”

Vowell said that through interviews and cooperation of witnesses at the crime scene, they were able to make the arrests.

Sheriff’s deputies had found King dead on the scene in the 100 block of Griffin Street shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Capt. Mike Walker had said that several people had gathered at that location and had begun firing multiple shots in the general direction of a structure on Griffin Street.

Both women were inside the structure when they were struck, Walker said. King’s wound was fatal. The other woman, Foster, was struck in the leg; she was treated and released from a local hospital, Walker said.
