Gary David Morey

Gary David Morey, 62, of Tifton, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the New Life Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Samuel Maves officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 tonight, at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Larry Kelley, Silas Creel, Kelly Lee, Sean Denham, Zachary Morey and Joshua Morey will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Morey was born Jan. 29, 1949, in Moultrie to Nathan Morey and Annie Laura Bass Morey, both of whom preceded him in death.

A resident of Tifton since 1989, Mr. Morey was a retired insurance agent, holding the designation of LUTCF, and he was the owner of Morey Insurance Agency in Tifton. He graduated from Dougherty High School, Albany, in 1966 and earned a BBA from Georgia Southwestern University in 1973. Mr. Morey enjoyed fishing, golf, University of Georgia football and going to the mountains with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. Mr. Morey was very active in his church, New Life Presbyterian Church of Tifton, where he had been a member since 1989.  He served as one of the first elders and had become an Elder Emeritus of the church.

Mr. Morey is survived by his wife, Judy Annette Lawrence Morey of Tifton; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Zachary David and Jessica Morey of Tifton and Joshua Seth and Allison Morey of Albany; and two grandchildren, Zoe Morey and Ava Morey, both of Tifton.
