TIFTON — Tift County football finally returns home Sept. 23 for a very big night. Not only will Tift take on Gadsden County (Fla.), but it will also be the second annual Red, White & Blue Devils game.
In preparations for that event, Tift football has multiple ways for fans to get involved, according to head coach Noel Dean.

One way, he said, is for fans to sponsor a jersey that players will wear. For $100 each, the back nameplate of the jersey will have the name of the current military member or veteran the sponsor wishes to honor. “That will be worn at the game,” Dean said. However, he can only guarantee up to 60 of the sponsored jerseys being worn against Gadsden.
For $10 each, donors can give towards special Red, White & Blue Devils T-shirts to be worn by the student section at the Gadsden game.
“If they donate 100 T-shirts, which is $1,000, they will get game day signage on the big board” at Brodie Field, he said.
Proceeds from these sales will be used in Tift County to support veterans, said Dean. The Blue Devils themselves have been heavily involved in supporting local veterans. This spring, the team built a ramp at a vet’s home. More of that type project is planned, he said.

Tift’s opponent for the Red, White & Blue Devils game, Gadsden County, is located in Havana. The Jaguars fell to 0-3 Friday with a loss to Lincoln of Tallahassee. Gadsden will play Florida State University High School before tangling with Tift. The Blue Devils will travel to Thomasville this Friday, Sept. 16.
