NASHVILLE — The funeral was held Friday for a young Berrien County man killed earlier this week when a tree fell on him.
Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, the Nashville Fire Department and Berrien EMS responded to a call on the Alapaha Highway about a tree falling on a man, a statement from the sheriff’s office said.
First responders found Sam Morris, 19, of Nashville dead when they arrived, the statement said.
He was the owner of C&M Land Management, according to his obituary. He and his crew were cutting down trees in a residential area when the last tree twisted as it began to fall, hitting Morris, the sheriff’s statement said.
“It was a very sad scene, period, and some immediate family members and friends witnessed the tragic accident,” said Sheriff Ray Paulk.
The funeral was held Friday at Abundant Life Church, where he was a member.
