Tift, Lowndes scrimmage at Brodie Field

TIFTON — The days are quickly rolling by and Tift County football will make its big 2022 debut Friday evening.

The Blue Devils will host Lowndes Aug. 5 in a scrimmage contest at Brodie Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5, according to Tift County athletic director Chris Martin. Gates will open at 6 p.m.

This will be Tift’s only scrimmage against another team in August. Most schools in the state will be warming p for the 2022 campaign next week. The regular season begins Aug.19, a home game against Coffee.

The Blue Devils met Lowndes in the spring game and they will play Friday in the fall scrimmage. That will be their only gridiron interactions this year. Tift was moved to 6A in last year’s Georgia High School Association reclassification and will be in Region 1-6A. Lowndes remains in Region 1-7A with Colquitt County and Camden County. They will be joined this year by Valdosta and Richmond Hill..

Tif’s new region has them playing against Thomas County Central, Northside (Warner Robins), Huston County, Veterans and Lee County. Besides Coffee, non-region contests are against Dutchtown, Thomasville and Colquitt County

Head coach Noel Dean’s Devils went 6-5 in 2021, their first winning season since 2018.

Season tickets are on sale for Tift’s 2022 games, with a price of $80 each reserved seat. Student passes for all TCHS sporting events are $100 for the year ($160 with reserved seats) and $160 for adults, which includes reserved seats.
