TIFTON — A man was arrested Tuesday for a number of car break-ins in Tift County.

From Aug. 6-8, Tifton police responded to several calls of cars being broken into in the northwest part of the city, most with windows smashed, a Tifton Police Department statement said.

Surveillance videos and interviews in the affected neighborhoods led to the arrest of a 28-year-old man on four counts of entering automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony, as well as three charges of criminal attempt to commit a felony, Tift County Jail records show.

Police urge people to secure valuables and remove firearms from cars when leaving the vehicle and to leave lights on outside to keep suspects from hiding in dark areas.
