William W. King
TIFTON — William Winslow “Bill” King, 64, of Tifton, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Tift Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Larry Daughtry officiating.
Mr. King was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Tift County to the late William Clarence “W.C.” King and Irene McCrae King.
A longtime resident of Tifton, Mr. King was a retired mail clerk with the Internal Revenue Service. He was of the Baptist faith and had attended the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring. He enjoyed mechanics and lawn maintenance and was well-known for being able to repair things.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Sandra Ann McPhail King of Tifton; one sister, Clarene Brooks, and her husband, Philip Brooks, of Winder; his mother-in-law, Evie Lee McPhail of New Orleans, La.; one brother-in-law, Rodney McPhail of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Rogers of New Orleans, La., and Latrell Moore of Fairview, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Lyte Raymond Harper
OCILLA — Lyte Raymond Harper, 65, of Ocilla, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County, with Elder Mickey Harris and Elder Ed McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Harper was born Dec. 28, 1941, in Irwin County to the late Ludy Guy Harper and Edna S. Harper Tucker. He had lived most of his life in Irwin County. He was a retired farmer and truck driver and former Irwin County Tax Assessor. He was a 1960 graduate of Irwin County High School and attended ABAC. He received his degree in business from the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County and also served in the Georgia National Guard.
Mr. Harper is survived by two sons, Brandon (Leslie) Harper of Appling and Clay (Bridgette) Harper of Ocilla; a daughter, Anna (Josh) Branch of Ocilla; two grandchildren, Cody Branch of Ocilla and Hance Harper of Appling; one brother, Ortiz (Janie) Harper of Ocilla; and two sisters, Alice (Sonny) Douglas of Baxley and Margaret (Bob) Young of Kingsford, Mich. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Duckworth Harper, as well as two brothers, Seymour Harper and James L. Harper.

Dwight Law
OCILLA — Dwight Law, 54, of Ocilla, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lax Holiness Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Driskell and Bro. Sam Hester officiating. Interment will follow at Lax Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.
Mr. Law was born Sept. 16, 1952, in Ocilla to Lurene Stephens Schultze and the late Leamon R. Law. He lived in the Lax and Irwin County communities all of his life, Mount Union Holiness Baptist Church in Lax. He was an avid outdoorsman with a great love for fishing. Mr. Law was a member of the Irwin County Saddle Club for many years, riding in many local, district and state horse shows and winning many ribbons and trophies.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lurene S. and Bob Schultze of Chula; a sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Elton Pearman of Chula; a nephew and his wife, Steffen and Heather Pearman of Tifton; a niece and husband, Christa and Clay Pate of Lenox; a great-niece, Abigail Pearman of Tifton; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
