Braylin Dorden has a short lead in the first frame of Tift County's game with Forsyth Central after reaching on an error.

TIFTON — Not a bad 2024 regular season debut for the Tift County Lady Devils Friday, Aug. 9. Not only did they shutout Forsyth Central 13-0 in four innings, Lily Robinson threw a no-hitter in the process.

Four runs crossed in the first and nine more in the second.

Tift’s first hit of the season went to Hannah Grace Murphy, a single off the second base bag. Lily Robinson made it two on and one out with a single.

Morgan Brey hit an infield grounder, but a throw to try to get Murphy on a force squirted away, resulting in Tift’s first run. Marlee Veazey grounded out, scoring Aubree Hale, Robinson’s courtesy runner. Ella Bruce got a hit on an infield grounder, bringing home Brey. Bruce then made it 4-0 on an error off Braylin Dorden’s bat.

Murphy got the action started back up in the second with a double. Robinson put runners at the corners with a single before Brey’s RBI single made it 5-0.

Veazey singled home Hale and Brey. Dorden tacked on two more runs with a double to left, plating Veazey and Bruce.

Bella Martinez, running for Dorden, came home on a passed ball. Stella Bryant then forced an error, bringing in C.B. McCrary to make it 11-0.

The Lady Devils weren’t done. Riley Williams’ groundout delivered Bryant. That was the second out of the inning and the bases were clear. Murphy started another rally with a single. Robinson walked and Brey made it lucky run No. 13 when she had a hit to plate Murphy.

Robinson faced one more than the minimum in the circle.

Forsyth Central’s first hitter of the day reached on a two-base error and ultimately made it to third on a pitch that got away. Robinson slammed the door shut early, not allowing the ball out of the infield in the first, striking out two and getting a pop-up to Murphy at second.

The opening fly was one of only two balls out of the infield. Bryant ended the game by catching a fly to right. Robinson had five strikeouts for the game. She walked none.

Tift hitters pounded out 13 hits. Murphy had three and Robinson, Brey, Bruce and McCrary had two each. Veazey drove in three, Brey and Dorden, two each.
