Effie Irene Coley Cofer

ATLANTA — Mrs. Effie Irene Coley Cofer, 92, of Atlanta, died Saturday, August 17, 2002, at the Fountainview Center for Alzheimer’s Disease in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Terrell Baptist Church in Worth County with burial following in the Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd., NE, Suite 10, Atlanta, Ga., 30345.

Mrs. Cofer was born in Worth County and was the daughter of the late James William and Minnie Florence Kemp Coley of Worth County. She was a member of the Terrell Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Cofer was the widow of Thomas Cofer, who died Nov. 27, 1994. She was a longtime resident of Turner County before moving to Atlanta in 1995.

Mrs. Cofer is survived by one daughter, Gloria Faye Cofer of Atlanta; one brother and sister-in-law, A.J. and Wynelle Coley of Ashburn; one sister and brother-in-law, Elida and J.R. Odom of Sylvester; and several nieces and nephews.

Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn is in charge of arrangements.



Mary Jane Lindsey Norman

TIFTON — Mrs. Mary Jane Lindsey Norman, 89, of Tifton, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The Rev. Eddie Allen will officiate.

Mrs. Norman was born in Lowndes County on May 22, 1913. She was the daughter of Arthur Lee Lindsey and Ora Mae Lindsey, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Mrs. Norman was the widow of William Columbus Norman Sr. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Columbus Norman Jr.

Mrs. Norman is survived by a son, Thomas (Tommy) Lindsey Norman of Tifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Penelope (Penny) Norman Stinson and Cecil E. (Gene) Stinson Jr. of Enigma; three sisters, Louise Brady of Daytona Beach, Fla., Annie Ruth Bailey of Thomasville and Lucile Cartwright of Athens; a grandson, Michael Kyle Stinson Sr.; a great grandson, Michael Kyle Stinson Jr.; and a great granddaughter, August Stinson.

Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
