Do the right thing

“I keep hearing strange things about this new primary school grading system. My child doesn’t understand it, and I certainly don’t. I do know that if she makes all 100s on her spelling tests, I expect to see a 4 on her report card. Anything less is stealing from my child. After reading Wednesday’s paper, I’m relieved to know that our board of education plans to straighten out this problem. I don’t know who it is who keeps trying to push this garbage on our county, but they need a job change and we as parents ought to demand it.”

You never know

“This is for the young guy in the tan Chevrolet truck that passed my daughter on the horse on the Lower Ty Ty Road, speeding way over the limit. Thank goodness that she was not hurt and thankful that you were not hurt. This could have been a tragedy. Maybe you learned your lesson on giving people walking or either riding a horse a little respect on the dirt road, because you never know what lies around the curve for you.”

Keep us informed

“When will the ‘Blue and White’ be published in the Gazette again? I enjoyed reading about the things going on at TCHS.”

Editor’s note: The Blue and White will be published in The Gazette this year. Right now, the school and the newspaper are working out some computer kinks but you should see the weekly publication back in The Gazette in the coming weeks.

‘Wonderful’ teachers

“I want to Rant about some of our so-called wonderful teachers. I know that all teachers are not alike. It has not been all that long ago when I was in school and I had wonderful teachers, but there are some teachers that are in the wrong profession. I have a six-year-old that we are in the process of having evaluated for a learning disability. The teacher doesn’t want to work with us. All she wants is for my child to be put on ritalin. What has happened to our school system when some teachers don’t want to teach so they take the easy way out and insist that a child be put on Ritalin. And all our School Board is worried about is changing the grading system from S, U, and N to 1,2,and 3’s. I think they have more important things to worry about.”
