Zenobia O. Powell

SUMNER — Zenobia O. Powell, 87, of Sumner, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Banks Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth Smith and Dr. Tom Jacobs will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sumner United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 794, Sumner, GA 31789, or Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 71341, Albany, GA 31708.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Banks Funeral Home.

Born July 22, 1914, in Worth County, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of Jessie Algie Odum and Emma Jane Jolley Odum, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley Powell Jr., who died in 1954.

A resident of Worth County most of her life, Mrs. Powell was a bookkeeper and a member of Sumner United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and David Burkett of Chula, Charlotte and Buddy Coarsey of Brookfield, Joan and Bobby Shiver of Sylvester and June and Mike Womack of Chula; one son, Charles W. Powell III of Tifton; one sister, Perry Lee Reynolds of Sumner; 10 grandchildren, Gail B. Daugherty, Larry Burkett, Lynn B. Willis, Kay B. Willis, Chip Coarsey, Wes Shiver, Karmen Trawick, Chuck Powell, Julie Powell and Jessica L. Womack; and eight great-grandchildren.

Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester is in charge of arrangements.



June Bennett Lindsey

TIFTON — June Bennett Lindsey, 67, of Tifton, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Chapel First Baptist Church. Dr. Fred Evers and Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Lindsey, Rob Bennett, Clay Pilkinton, Jeremy Knight, Jeffrey Chastain and Dane Green.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born June 3, 1934, in Tift County, Mrs. Lindsey was the daughter of Jack and Frances Maddox Bennett of Tifton. She was preceded in death by one son, James Ross Lindsey Jr.; and one grandson, Colby Hooper.

Mrs. Lindsey was retired from Coastal Plain Experiment Station and was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton.

She is survived by her husband, James Ross Lindsey Sr. of Tifton; two daughters, Cynthia Lindsey of Tifton and Renee Lindsey Winter of Roswell; three brothers, Nick Bennett of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Ray Bennett of Oglethorpe and Jack Bennett of Tifton; two sisters, Carolyn Pilkinton of Tifton and Milva Knight of Waycross.

Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.



Abram H. Stewart, 81, of Sparks, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Palmyra Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Assembly of God, burial at Buck Creek Church Cemetery. Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
