A challenge
“The Irwin County Board of Education has just approved an annual $250 cash bonus for all employees of the school system. In addition, all employees will be able to use all of their sick leave for personal days. I challenge someone in the know to arrive at an amount that bonuses and pay for the substitutes will cost the already strained property owners of Irwin County.”
Lock them up
“If a person comes out of a bar, he should be put under arrest if he gets behind a steering wheel. Even after one beer? Yep.”
Hats off to deputy
“It is amazing how we look at law enforcement personnel. Often we forget they are human also and expect them to live and function on levels not expected of others. These citizens are to be commended. They are subject to having accidents as Dep. Boyd had on Thursday just as we other citizens have accidents. On the other hand, consideration might need to be given to the use of cell phones while operating a moving, government-owned vehicle, except in emergencies. My hats are off to law enforcement personnel.”
Which ones?
“It sure would have been nice if the county commission would have introduced or let be known the five subdivisions that were supposed to bring in all this extra money, the assessments that will generate $20,000 additional tax revenue. Or do we already know which five that it is? Let’s find out and ask them to go ahead and tell those five subdivisions so we can know that we’re expecting a tax increase again this year. Thank you very much for the Rant and Rave column.”
