State Metrology Lab earns 2025 Certificate of Metrological Traceability

ATLANTA — Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper announced that the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s (GDA) State Metrology Laboratory has received the 2025 Certificate of Metrological Traceability from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This prestigious certification recognizes the lab’s successful demonstration of compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, the gold standard for metrology laboratories.

“I am incredibly proud of the State Metrology Lab for earning this significant recognition,” Harper said. “As a state agency, it is crucial that we uphold the highest standards of excellence to deliver the best service to all Georgians. This achievement highlights our commitment to meeting and exceeding those standards every day.”

This certification affirms that the State Metrology Lab, located in Tifton, operates with an advanced system that ensures consistent, repeatable, and traceable testing with the highest level of precision and reliability, according to the Agriculture Department’s announcement. To maintain its certification, the lab undergoes a comprehensive annual review by NIST, demonstrating ongoing compliance with the highest metrological standards.
