TIFTON — The local chamber of commerce paid homage to the students at the top of the class for Tift County High School and Tiftarea Academy.
Members of the Tifton-Tift County chamber were proud to recognize Phu “Bill” Nguyen of TCHS and Thomas Hunter Holt of Tiftarea Academy during their February membership meeting for becoming the STAR Students of their respective schools.
This title is awarded to high school students who have scored the highest on a single administration of the Scholastic Assessment Test and rank among the top ten percent or the top ten students of their class.
After receiving the designation, Nguyen and Holt were also asked to nominate a STAR Teacher who they felt had best assisted them in reaching the level of achievement they were being recognized for. Nguyen nominated Kaycee Aultman as his STAR Teacher, while Holt named Natalie Rippy.
The chamber’s Business Workforce and Education Committee, represented by Beth Lewis, presented all four with plaques as congratulations for their accomplishments.
