MOULTRIE — Tift County’s Lady Devils soccer team earned its first victory of their Region 1 schedule Friday at Colquitt County and the Blue Devils nearly did the same with Packers.

Both contests went to overtime. The Lady Devils won 2-1 in overtime, while the Colquitt boys needed penalty kicks to win 4-3 over the Blue Devils.

LADY DEVILS 2, COLQUITT 1 (OT)

Amy Deleon scored about 30 minutes into the first half on an assist from Jordyn Shivers said head coach Irvin Alvarez. The score stayed 1-0 until the last minute of regulation, when the Lady Packers tied it.

Shivers had the game-winner in overtime, coming on an assist from Caroline Dotson.

PACKERS 4, TIFT 3 (PKs)

Head coach Bobby Earls said he was disappointed that Colquitt scored twice in the first five minutes. From there, however, it was a different ballgame.

David Olguin finished out the first half with a goal. Cristian Salazar scored the second for the Devils. Colquitt had a 3-2 lead, but Juan Rodriguez tied the score to send it into overtime.

In PKs, Braylon Samuel had two shots go in despite getting a hand on them.

Tift is scheduled to travel to Perry Tuesday. They’ll be back home Friday for more region games, this time against Camden County.
