TIFTON — Art and creativity centered celebration the Arts Affair will be making a return to Tifton this weekend.

Following the success of its inaugural showing last year, the arts festival from the Tifton Council for the Arts is set to have a repeat appearance during the first weekend of November, inviting residents to celebrate art and expression across the evening of Nov. 1 and the entirety of Nov. 2.

Creators of all kinds are anticipated to gather around the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center, showcasing forms of expression across a wide range of mediums, including pottery, writing, baking, and more.

The event will kick off Friday night with the Creative Kids Parade, a march down Love Avenue featuring the artistic youths of Tifton. This year’s parade will be the Magic Lantern Parade, with participating kids carrying lanterns either they’ve created or have been provided by the arts council as they parade towards the festival grounds, illuminating their way in the twilight of the evening.

From there, patrons will be treated to a performance from Albany-based party band Relapse, and are encouraged to join the fun on the dance floor in front of the main stage.

The following day’s festivities will begin at 10 a.m. as attractions and artists spread out around the Syd, the library, and up and down Love Avenue. Sections of the festival will be dedicated to showcasing specific mediums, including an Author’s Row, an Artist’s Market, and a Baker’s Row.

Even the children of the community will have an entire section dedicated to them with the return of the Kids Art Circus, featuring fifteen tents organized by local businesses and nonprofit organizations with each boasting a unique activity for younger patrons to enjoy.

The festival main stage will play host to a myriad of performances throughout the day from groups such as the Song Farmers, a collection of farmers with a love for music who will be playing folk songs and classical hymns, and the Atlanta-based Apu Inka, an Andean musical group that celebrates the ancestral art, music, and dance of the Andes through their performances.

Inside the Syd, patrons will be able to observe the festival’s art show, which will compile works from many of the artists participating in the event. These pieces will also be judged and ranked, with prizes being awarded for first, second, third, and an honorable mention ranking.
