TIFTON — The Tift County School System is reporting that a student was hit by a car Tuesday afternoon at Len Lastinger Elementary School.

“At approximately 2:55 pm a Len Lastinger Elementary student was involved in a pedestrian/vehicle accident during dismissal,” the school district said in a post to Facebook. “The student was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center.

“We would like to thank the community first responders and school staff at the scene for their quick response and attention to the situation,” the post said.

Tifton Police Department and Georgia State Patrol are leading the investigation.
